The past month or so has been a time of amazing growth for Willa- I feel like each day, I see her do something new for the first time. I wish I had kept up with all the things she has accomplished lately, but such is life- I’ll try to give a rundown now… Thank goodness for the date stamp on pictures or I’d have no idea when these things happened…
At the beginning of February (2/6/14), Willa started to sit up, she needed to brace herself on a sturdy toy, but could do it. She now sits on her own for periods of time- although she falls forward a lot, but this is due to the fact that she wants to be on the move or has her mind set on grabbing for a toy that is out of her reach.
Willa has eaten and enjoyed everything she has tried. New lately— butternut squash, avocado, blueberries, yogurt, meats such as chicken pot, shepherd’s pie, chicken and rice….
2/24/14- Willa started eating finger foods and she has just run with it- she loves puffs, Cheerios, pieces of toast, pasta, cucumber, baby Goldfish… She also like big pieces of things to gnaw on- rice crackers, toast, graham crackers, pizza crust- a lifesaver while I’m prepping meals…
4/2/14- During the past two weeks, she has also become pretty adept at using her sippy cup as well— she has just started getting it to her mouth on her own- which she seems very proud of when you clap for her 🙂
3/2/14- She plays ball! both laying on her belly and sitting up- when the ball rolls toward her she hits it back to you (sometimes, she doesn’t get her hand up fast enough and uses her face to pass it back to you, but effective none-the-less…
3/5/14- At Willa’s six month check- up she weighed 16 pounds 11 ounces (58%) and was 27.5 inches tall (95%)
3/15/14- Now she CRAWLS!! It is more of what they call the “military crawl,” she pulls herself around on one elbow- it looks a little silly, but it’s very effective- especially when she combines the crawl with a series of rolls… She is sneaky fast now!
3/25/14- Willa has started waving- at first I didn’t know of she was really waving, but now she will wave on command and spontaneously wave people when they come in the room.
3/28/14- The newest game is Peak-a-Boo- you can cover her face with a towel and she pulls it down, and she also will pull a towel off of my face when I say, “Where’s Mommy????”
4/2/14- Sits up and rides around in the shopping cart at the grocery store. She was so cute- she was mesmerized by all the people- munching on puffs, and smiling the entire time (Fi, on the other hand, was in and out of the car on the front of the cart and only returned with the threat of being “buckled in” posed to her…)
Willa’s favorite books- Lift the flap books, Goodnight Teddy (a fabric book with a little bear attached).
Favorite toys- Activity cube, anything with wheels, playing ball with her sister, soft blocks with little doors on them, farm (sharing with Fi…) and Bus with people.
Willa likes to sleep with these soft blankies with soft ribbon edges and Baba Bear (a little lovee toy that was Fi’s).
Willa now knows what she wants- she hangs on tight to toys, will roll and crawl across the room with her “eye on the prize” the entire time, and will cry if you remove the preferred object (even if it is an old sticker found under the couch or the cable wire that she insists on crawling towards every time she on the floor in the living room) …and she definitely knows what she doesn’t want- she bats things the offending object such as sippy cup or toy…
The only thing this beautiful girl doesn’t do lately is sleep- on an average night she is still up 3-4 times… Someday she has to sleep through the night, right?
p.s. Please excuse the typos I’m sure are throughout this post… It’s late, I’m tired, and I don’t sleep- cut me a little slack until Willa starts sleeping 😉
Some of my favorite recent pics…
